10 days after the warranty ran out on this fridge, things started going out. First it was the water dispenser, then the feeder motor that pushed the ice out of the ice maker, then it was the motor that turns an arm that pushed ice from the bin through the dispenser. After having all of those items fixed, the ice maker itself had to be replaced. Through all of this, kitchenaid offered nothing but "sorry, it's out of warranty". I understand that warranties end and they cannot stand behind a product forever but when several repairmen state that these are all very common problems with these exact refrigerators, something should be done on Kitchenaids end. 3 months after paying over $1000 for those repairs on my $4000 refrigerator out of pocket, my freezer is currently not working. There is a constant ticking and my food is starting to thaw. I feel duped by the claimed superiority of Kitchenaid products and all of the 5-star "reviews" I found when deciding on new appliances. Researching how to fix this pretty piece of trash has revealed that I am not the only one that feels this way. I am so disappointed in the quality of those product. I advice is DO NOT BUY FROM WHIRLPOOL/ KITCHENAID!!

We bought this fridge 31/2 years ago, and were happy with it for 3 years. Then we started having problems with the freezer and ice maker. We had it serviced and had to replace parts for over $800, none of it on warranty. I phoned kitchen aid and all they said was sorry we can do nothing for you. ( we spent $15000 on our kitchen aid package)replaced it already

This refrigerator has been the biggest lemon. We have had nothing but problems with it since we bought back in June of 2017. I wish I would have taken all of the reviews seriously when I purchased it but figured the issues might habe been isolated to a few people. Not the case. We have had countless repairs, from the ice maker (numerous times) to control boards. Every time the power goes out we have to unplug and plug it back it 15-20 times before it will actually start working again. Kitchenaid wants to keep sending out the same clueless service company that is of no help on our dime. I've already paid way too much money trying to fix this thing and refuse to keep dumping money into it. DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR!!!!!

I bought this refrigerator in 2/2016 the compressor went out in 6/18. Service took 2 1/2 months for the warranty company to repair it. Just recently 9/2019 my ice maker stopped working, a warranty repair person came out and replaced the ice maker and it still doesn't work. I am still waiting for another repair person to come out and look at it. It's been over a month and no one has come out. They keep giving me different names of people to come out but never sending the appropriate paperwork to get it done. Very disappointed that it is broke like this in a 3 year period of time. What has happened to kitchenaid? it used to be such a good brand!

For a large refrigerator, it doesn't have a lot of space and the interior configurations are limited. There is no butter storage and it is hard to configure fro tall items like wine bottles.

Bought this June of 2016. Looks great and worked great. Recieved the ultimate error code. PO flashed every 10 minutes or so. Fridge shuts down and restarts. Fridge and freezer parts stopped working correctly. Replaced the pantry Drawer UI PCB circutry board and the harness attached as instructed by Whirlpool through an authorized repair facility. Six hours later, error code returns and there are no noticable changes. Had the evaporator motor replaced at a follow up date, as the original part was wrong that was shipped. This cooled the fridge and freezer correctly, but the PO error code returned. $800 later, tech support at Whirlpool has 2 or 3 more ideas as to what else it could be. Fridge is out of warrenty and customer support can only offer me $75 to help for the $3,500 spent. My 14 year old Conquest fridge by Whirlpool in the warm garage is working better and has only cost me $45 in parts since new for a new fan motor.
Design problem is that there is a circuit board under the water dispenser, and no way to keep any leaked water from frying the circuit, if that was ever a problem.
I'm hoping the next dart we throw hits the problem(s) and fixes the issue.

Paid $4k and it's ready for the curb less than 3 years later.
Had a service call on this in May. When they do show up, they won't have the part so expect to be without a fridge until the part arrives a week later... . 40 days later I have a fault code and need another check.. looks like the first diagnosis didn't fix the issue.
If the same company comes twice and it's a related repair, no second charge. If you book an appt online you will get a call on the day that the repair is booked to say that the company coming is a different one so you have to pay $129 + tax as the technician is not from the same sub-contractor. Beware of trying to resolve and book yourself off hours (my fridge broke down on a weekend).
When they do show up, they won't have the part so expect to be without a fridge until the part arrives a week later... then you will pay for the part.
Oh, and when you call to ask for a supervisor... expect them to say that it's your fault for not buying an extended warranty. This is a $4000 product!!!!
Horrible customer service. The absolute worst. They 100% do not stand behind their product. I was told that my fridge was "old" and that I was lucky that my changed appointment didn't result in a charge.

We were initially really happy with our purchase; however, 2 years later and this fridge has become a total nightmare. We have had issues with loud noises coming from it that turned out to be related to build up of frost/ice in the back. The temp in the fridge dropped but did not completely stop working, enough to alert us to a problem. It wasn't until 3 members of our family fell ill from food poisoning that we realized that the fridge temp was to blame.
We had a tech come out the first time after waiting two days, only to have him look in behind the drawers and see the ice and tell us that there was nothing he could do, he had to get a part. Isn't this something he could have asked us before coming to our house? So now I am taking ANOTHER day off work to wait for him to come back with a part to fix the issue. He de-ices and replaces the compressor fan and we are charged for the parts but not the labor because apparently this was related to a KA recall, which we were never notified of, even though our product is registered with KA.
Fast forward 3 weeks, the ice build-up is back and food is ruined again. We call for service and they cannot get a tech out for 4 days. Feeding a family of 6 without a working fridge is a delight. The tech shows up to access the issue this time and says that we need a new motherboard but he has to order that, which takes 5-7 business days. So now we are sitting here with food in coolers, trying to function while waiting this out.
I would never buy another KA appliance. Be warned. Customer service is condescending and rude when you have to deal with them. This has been a terrible customer experience, which is SHOCKING considering the $4000 we shelled out for this monster.

We purchased this fridge in Feb 2019. The look of it was what caught our eye and the features were great. We love the digital screen and how easy it is to access/change specific settings, however my two issues are: 1. Space – while it looks like a spacious freezer, the ice maker/compartment takes up the entire left side of the fridge, so there is only space for one small shelf, sufficient for holding a stick of butter or two or three small bottles. Six shelves are provided but if using them all, the height for storage space diminishes and you are limited to lying bottles down (yes, even with the adjustable shelf). 2. Water filter – Given that we purchased the fridge in February, by the beginning of May, the water dispenser was literally trickling water out of the spout. We timed how long it took to fill a 20 oz cup and it was over 90 seconds. The video tutorial from KitchenAid recommends changing the water filter every 6 months – given that we use the dispenser about 5-7 times per day, I would think the filter should have lasted longer (and yes, it was the filter that came with the fridge upon purchase). Very disappointing.

I bought this fridge about a year and a half ago and it has been great except after the first 3 months one of the thermostats broke but was replaced and has been great since but now the ice basket has had 2 random pieces of plastic pieces break off and when you open the ice door the ice falls out... I would think this is a defect as how would 2 pieces of plastic just randomly break. Please send me a new basket as this one is clearly defective.

The repairman came and changed the hose, but I feel it still has too much spray outside of the glass. I am also surprised it doesn't have a water catching tray. When the water drips, it has nowhere to go but the kitchen floor! I am a little a disappointed.

This fridge was quite pricey and we are experiencing numerous failures in quality. The fridge does not do even its basic job of keeping food cold. We were told it's a leakage of refrigerant and this in a fridge less than two years old. The manufacturers warranty is only for one year and now we see why.
In addition the LED lights stopped working and the ice machine broke at the same time.
The company was very rude and unhelpful when we contacted them. My recommendation is to stay away from this fridge in particular and any whirlpool brand
appliances. The aggravation of a non functioning fridge and lack of even basic customer support should be a lesson to all.

So far the fridge does what its supposed to, food is cold, freezer is frozen. But now that we have it know whats missing. Door storage where the icemaker is!!!!. Yes buying it we knew that door has no storage, but due to the inside cubic feet, thought it wouldnt matter. But now any small things you store in the door are inside the fridge so constantly digging and moving stuff. Ive never had a door ice maker, but a freezer ice maker where you just manually grab. Now I know why, its loud and I hate it. We grab the ice from the door instead. Waste of space and time. Also, unless you have the glass right close to the ice dispenser, ice shards shoot everywhere. Also that are looks dirty all the time due to water splashes and ice remnants.
Also the one inside shelf you can slide back which is great, but it will stay like that forever, because thats the only spot you can fit tall stuff. So that sliding shelf is useless, but looks handy in the show room. As well you cant fit a 4L milk jug in the door storage, since the door is to short unless you remove a storage shelf.
We are also constantly cleaning the outside, constant smudges everywhere.
If I could Id turn back time I would buy something else. Alot of it now using it a few months is fashion over function. If Kitchenaid would give me a 100% refund, Id take it and get something thats more useful. That wont happen so will suffer with it until it stops working. And the cost of it as well makes me feel guilty even saying I dont like it.
The lower freezer has a lot of room, most of any fridge we have had, so happy with that. The two small drawers are used alot as well, but all of this eats up the space for the main part of the fridge.
It is pretty to look at, but the functionality for a family is not there. I shouldnt have to be constantly moving things to get to them on a fridge with this much cubic feet.

I purchased this beautiful refrigerator in 2016 from Best Buy for around $3,800. We were remodeling our kitchen and buying all new matching appliances then after looking at dozens of refrigerators when I came across this one, it looked so nice I had to get it. We also purchased KitchenAid dishwasher and gas range. The matching appliances look fantastic in the kitchen however about 2 years after purchasing the refrigerator it started to freeze over. I tested the thermistor, bi-metal thermostat and the defrosting heater, all tested good. The only thing left was the main control board which I'm now assuming is the problem. Every once in awhile the display goes blank and won't come back on until I reset the main circuit breaker. Bottom line I was so excited to get this refrigerator but now after owning it for 3 years and one year of nothing but problems I'm so disappointed with it.

I'm going on 4 weeks of a non functioning freezer and a barely cold refrigerator. I purchased the Kitchen aid 5 door fridge, matching dishwasher and slide in gas stove 2 years ago and have had it installed since July of 2017. It has been a nonstop problem since day 1. From Ice balls in the freezer to doors not aligned, the support bracket had to be replaced due to the shelves were off almost an inch from side to side. Now the freezer has stopped and the fridge is barely staying 45 degrees. Yesterday the technician replaced the computers and some electronics and sensors not it has gone up 10 degrees in the freezer. The appliance turns itself off constantly and reboots itself ever 15-20 minutes (with all the bells and chimes). Not to mention the ice maker draining water into the compartments and the water running on the door down the front of the fridge and onto my new wood floors that are now dented form the fridge being pulled in and out so many times. I am very disappointed in this purchase and regret having bought the them. I bought the extended warranty which is covering the repairs but still very disappointed with the quality of the appliance. This goes beyond buyers remorse, I will not be purchasing or recommending Kitchen Aid again.

Spent $3000 on a leaky refrigerator in which I need to keep paper towels in the door to catch the melting ice water. I also have brown water stains in the bottom tray of the refrigerator from rusty water coming out of a drain hole. And of course it is over a year old and no warranty. So disappointed as it was part of a complete kitchen remodel with all Kitchen Aid. DO NOT BUY!!!! Repair company came out once under warranty and now I refuse to pay for a design flaw.

Bought this Fridge 18 months ago - worked well until things started to go wrong. It started with the light not coming on, then the water didn't dispense and the ice maker didn't work. Unplugged and plug the fridge back and if you are lucky, it would work for a couple of days and then the same issue arise out of no where.

I love the style and handy compartments, but I've had the fridge for two years and during the first 6 months I had to replace the ice maker. Then the refrigerator periodically stopped cooling to the set temperature, and my food ruined several times. It stopped doing that, and the water dispenser started leaking non stop. We replaced the valve twice, and it is still leaking. I just keep a towel on the dispenser tray. I'm tired of fooling with it. I plan to buy another fridge...but not a Kitchen aid.

This is a very versatile product. However, the "pizza" area in the freezer really cannot hold anything more than 1" above the top, which makes it very limiting even for pizza boxes.
Also, we have had the ice maker water line freeze up as we aren't using it often enough. So, make sure you use the ice at least once a week!

Bought this in July 2017, installed in kitchen September 2017. Everything fine until November of 2018. Ice maker would not dispense ice. Motor would growl then stop. Removed motor and found that it was full of water and the output shaft was rusted. Shook motor multiple times until no more water came out of it. Sprayed contact cleaner into it, cleaned the rust off of the shaft. Coated shaft and housing with silicone grease. Has been working so far. This week new issue, LED lights in the top and freezer not working. This unit is not worth the money. Poor engineering and design and probably cheap electronics were used. Seems like it was designed to last only until the warranty period is over.

This refrigerator was installed in my new home in March 2017. In November 2018 the temperature began to rise. Out of warranty. Needed to replace the master control board by January 2019. Now, the refrigerator is freezing my food. Kitchenaide suggested I should have purchased the extended warranty. In my opinion Extended warranties are always useful with substandard products.

I bought this fridge about a month ago. I search for a new fridge for 3 months, read reviews, visited four different stores (several times!), and finally decided for this 25.8 Cu. Ft. 36-Inch Multi-Door Freestanding Refrigerator KitchenAid. It makes tons of ice quickly. It features butter and little things drawers which we loooove. Love the multiple drawers. Love the handles and the slow closing. Love the multiple drawers and dividers in the freezer! Wow! it has never been more organized and easily accessible. Very quiet operation except for the occasional little noises when ice falls into tray (it does not bother me at all). Both the doors on the fridge AND my house had to be removed and placed back (for an extra cost!) but even the movers said this fridge is awesome and they see a LOT of fridges- the one I bought previously was expensive BUT not worth it and the movers agree (I wont say brand but starts with an S).

After hearing rave reviews about KitchenAid products, I finally made the investment and bought this model in 2017. From day 1, we had problems, starting with the water dispenser that we had a serviceman come out 3 times to repair and it's still not correct, leaving a puddle in the dispensing area after every use. Additionally, the lights on the produce selector of the left drawer no longer function. And we still have drinks that "freeze up" at times in the left pull out drawer. It is a sharp looking unit; it's just a shame that for all that money, it should be flawless.

I bought this refrigerator to replace a not even 4 year old fancy LG. After doing extensive research the common denominator of all findings was NOT to buy products made in Asia but to stick with appliances made in the USA, Canada, Mexico and of course Europe. I feel this refrigerator has less capacity than the one I had and was sure I would miss the feature of the double door. However, am very pleased with it because it ends up being more functional, despite what it lacks, than the LG model I had. Most of all am pleased I have bought a product made in the Americas versus an Asian product.

I've had this refrigerator for about a month now and I love it. It has tons of space and is very sturdy. The only thing I don't like is that there isn't much room for things that are tall. That might be my fault for not moving the shelves around more, but I'm still getting used to it and will continue to do so.
