This thing clools down 400 square-foot room very quickly. However, even on low it is extremely loud. If you™™re sitting within 6 feet of the air-conditioner and trying to hear a TV 8 feet away, you have to turn the volume up very high. I believe it to be excessively loud even when the condenser turns off and it™™s just on fan. But hey, it cools the room down.

We purchased this Frigidaire12,000 BTU window unit to replace another 12,000 BTU, which was also a Frigidaire a window unit about 6 yrs old. The old unit was still in working order, but making a strange noise at the end of last year. I took the unit apart and found some how leaves had entered the unit . That was what was making the noise, removed debris put it back together and gave it to our daughter. The unit is still going , just a lot quiter. Very happy with the before and after.

I didn't see that this AC is not made for side to side opening windows, so I had to order extra parts, but I'm glad I didn't return the AC and was able to make it work, because it works REALLY well, better than the other two window ACs I bought.

I bought this solely based on the price BTU. It was the cheapest Brand name unit I could find. So far so good. We have a 700 square feet apartment. It does a good job.

We bought this A/C unit to replace the digital A/C unit in our living room because the digital unit kept tripping is own breaker and shutting itself off several times a day. We wanted a mechanical (non-digital) A/C unit that just blows cold air, and this Frigidaire certainly does blow cold air! In fact, it's so cold we have to put a blanket on while watching TV. This unit will be fantastic for the hot Texas summer coming up!

Verified PurchaseI Failed.I thought I did sufficient homework prior to pulling the trigger on this.......I did not.I have a 3 bedroom house and only use 1 bedroom so I didn't see the need for running central A/C all night so I purchased this for the master bedroom.I enjoy sleeping to 'white noise' so the quiet hum of an air conditioner was not a concern.The Item can well packed from the seller and the price was better than my local box store. It was easy to install. I did it by myself in about 45-60 minutes.The past 2 nights it was warm enough in the house to warrant using the A/C.This 'thing' has kept me awake both nights, at 2AM this morning I shut it off and turned on the central A/C.The quiet hum I was expecting was more like the A/C my father had 55 years ago. I don't watch TV in the bedroom and white noise is fine,albeit louder than my 6 speed fan I could live with it.Here is where the major issues begin. The compressor is LOUD. Not only is it Loud, it has a very deep base sound that you can feel in your ear drums. ( Similar to a ghetto blaster)I could also live with that if it was a consistent sound. But it is not.When turned on the system starts off fine. Within 10 minutes of running the cycling of the compressor begins. Various degrees of ultra deep pitches in various volumes . After about 6 minutes of cycling on/off/high/low, the fan and the compressor begin to fade, almost like it is starving for power. For a second or two there is no sound and no fan blowing, quiet, then, as if it regained it's power the 6 minute torture cycle begins againAlthough I read MANY reviews before purchasing anything I am guilty ( most of the time) of not reciprocating. In this case, I felt I owed it to my fellow Shoppers to educate you and save you a similar disappointment. Keep Shopping! This is not the one you want.Best wishes, Jim

Due to several years of gradually diminishing performance, I had to replace my old window unit. After much research I decided on the Frigidaire 12,000 BTU model, and I'm glad I did. It replaced a much larger and bulkier 12,000 BTU unit. 2015 has been the 3rd hottest summer on record, and the hottest July ever recorded. Living in south Louisiana the summer heat/humidity can be oppressive. This unit has preformed flawlessly. It cools very quick, is quite, and efficient. I've bought several Frigidaire A/C's in the past, and because of my experiences, am a repeat customer. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend this A/C.
